Henry Williamson first came to live in North Devon in 1921 to rebuild his life after the First World War. Through his experiences caring for an orphaned otter cub he re-discovered the world through the eyes of an otter. The countryside and natural life of this beautiful part of Devon became the inspiration for his classic novel "Tarka the Otter".

Today, this area has become known as Tarka Country. Through this video you can discover the wildlife, countryside, towns and villages of Williamson's "Country of the two rivers" Here, the "secrets" of Tarka Country are revealed allowing you to experience the varied and beautiful land to be treasure and enjoyed over and over again.
