One minutes silence was After a phenomenally successful launch in Bedford Square, Princesshay, Exeter on Saturday 5th May 2012, the Bombing of Exeter DVD is now available. The film was shown to thousands on a giant screen creating immense interest from the citizens of Exeter. One minutes silence was recognized & attended by the Lord Mayor of Exeter. There were exciting 1940’s events happening throughout the day with dancing & singing, fashion & hair demonstrations. People stood spell-bound as they watched clips of the film, the stunning images, dramatic music & sound effects expertly narrated & scripted by renowned local author Peter Thomas. This 86 minute film was produced, filmed & edited by Alan Tibbitts of DVX Productions. It is designed to bring Exeter’s most tragic event of May 4th 1942, to the attention of a new generation. The Bombing of Exeter focuses on the character of the pre-war city, air raid precautions, the destruction of the city and how it over came the devastation. Many previously unseen archive images are included, air-raid reconstructions, plus modern day comparisons. We hope this film will stand as a fitting tribute to those who were killed, injured and fought valiantly to save their city, in what was the most momentous occasion of Exeter’s illustrious history.

DVX Productions were chosen to film this years Exeter Respect Festival, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to have a totally free hand to capture all aspects of this exciting, vibrant & colourful event & to show what we can do. The organisers are totally over the moon with the results, exceeding their expectations & apparently surpassing any production from previous years. We were delighted to be involved with such a worthwhile event & hope to be involved next year.

Exeter Respect Festival is the city's annual celebration of diversity. This free festival uses performing arts and creative artists to promote multi-cultural understanding and say no to racism and all forms of prejudice.

Here are the highlights to whet your appetite for the DVD which is to follow shortly.

The Donkey Sanctuary

It has been a very busy period for us producing 4 major films for the Donkey Sanctuary.

We made the highly acclaimed EST promotional film. This portrayed the fantastic work being undertaken providing an excellent service bringing disabled children & donkeys together. This featured 2 particular stars, John a young boy with a big personality & Norman his trusty donkey for the day.

We have produced 2 further DVD’s on the subject of donkey care; these are proving invaluable in training & educating donkey owners exactly how to look after their donkeys.

Our greatest undertaking to date has been the Donkey Sanctuary 40 Years On film which we were commissioned to make. This year long project took Alan Tibbitts around the world as well as many parts the UK, witnessing first hand the incredible work being carried out in places such as Egypt & Spain. He worked closely with Dawn Vincent (Dr Svendsen’s granddaughter) & Amanda Gordon of the Donkey Sanctuary Press Office, building up a great working relationship in the making of these films. This DVD provides a definitive insight into the work of the world’s largest Donkey Sanctuary. Founded in 1969, it aims to prevent the suffering of donkeys & mules anywhere in the world. It features & is narrated by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE. Alan said “On a personal level this has been an extremely fulfilling experience, it has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to produce such an enjoyable & rewarding film, at times it has been a very moving experience for me, I feel very proud of this film & I hope that I have done justice to such a worthwhile organisation.”

Following the great success of The Year of the Dartmoor Pony & Discovering Exmoor Ponies, word spread & we were commissioned by the Fell Pony Society to make a promotional DVD for them. We captured some breathtaking shots of the ponies in their natural environment high up in the Lake District, as well as their success in the show-ring around the country. We were lucky enough to persuade the great actor Brian Blessed to once again provide his unmistakable voice for the narration which was the icing on the cake.

Ashley’s Story

!

Devon County Council Road Safety

Following on from the success of ‘Eco-safe driving – making a difference’ DVD,

DVX were commissioned to make a new & very different film.

‘Ashley’s Story’ –  unique & dramatic glimpse into the life of a boy who made the biggest mistake of his life, at the vulnerable age of 15. He was encouraged to take a car journey that would dramatically change his life forever. After ‘getting in’ with the wrong crowd, taking drugs & alcohol, he was subsequently involved in a serious car accident. The injuries he sustained were considerable, with extensive brain damage, unable to walk or talk. For 2 years he was unable to communicate, although he understood everything around him. 10 years on he is wheel-chair bound, but miraculously he is now able to use a finger to artificially talk with the aid of a laptop.

The film is his emotional message to young people, along with the care & love of his Gran adding her poignant comments. Ashley says “I just wish someone had talked to me the way I’m talking to you. To have a wake-up call before you do anything as stupid as I did. For a few minute’s fun you could now be in the same position as me, FOR LIFE. I wish I could be a life-saver and tell you all to “Love your life as it is, and don’t F*** it up”.

The Road Safety team are delighted with the results we have produced, commenting on Alan’s sensitivity & caring approach he has given to this extremely difficult subject. They feel the impact of this film will have far-reaching implications in the education of young people.
